I see through the camera a world that typically goes unnoticed. From an abstract idea to a reality, I use photography to convey my emotions.
Much of my current photography consists of people and landscapes photographed with either 35mm or 120mm film. The images have a very graphic quality to them. The use of lines and shapes help create movement and depth. My use of textures helps bridge the sensory gap between the visual and tactile. I use black and white film and silver gelatin prints to accentuate thee graphic elements. This allows the viewer to concentrate on the content without the distraction of color. It also keep the image from being dated adding to its timelessness.
I photograph my subjects because they all have there own unique individual stories to tell. I have to stop and listen, carefully examine and re-examine the subject. Questions start to arise internally for me. This is a conversation and intimate moment between myself and my subject. I use these techniques to communicate specific moments to the viewer, not just visually but emotionally as well. I try and catch those fleeting moments in time that will never exist again, only to form new moment created from the connection made between myself, the subject, and the viewer.
